2nd Annual Auditions for Scholarships at Best School of Acting
Best School of Acting is a part-time drama school based in St Albans with a growing reputation for the quality of its teaching and the progress made, with excellent feedback from students, their parents and their teachers.
Our second annual scholarship auditions will take place on the afternon of 9 April 2014 at Sandringham School and we would like to invite any of your students, aged 8 or over, to attend. Successful students can receive up to 100% of a year’s fees and there are a number of other, significant awards made on the basis of talent, commitment and/or personal circumstances
Last year we were able to offer 12 awards to students from a wide variety of local schools. This year may be a little more restricted, simply due to the popularity of the school leaving limited available spaces.
Already we have seen very significant progress in many of our students and our first showings to parents have met with universal acclaim. We’ll soon be wishing bon voyage to our first ‘graduating’ students moving into full-time drama school or completing their school studies
Last term, our younger students developed their own version of ‘A Christmas Carol’, performed at the Abbey Theatre Studio on 8th December. Our older students were introduced to Stanislavskian techniques and enjoyed contrasting masterclasses in clowning and Shakespeare (following the stage combat and circus skills classes from the spring).
Next term it’s the older students opportunity to try out their naturalistic acting skills in a public performance of James Saunders’ pieces at The Maltings Arts Theatre on 23/24 March. Younger students will be working on developing their listening and reaction techniques, as well as strengthening their improvisation basics. There will also be two more masterclass sessions.
