We spent a week in Edinburgh at the Fringe – it was a really vibrant and fun experience which I strongly encourage any BSA student to attend (well done Megan!)
It’s not just the huge number of shows on offer (2000+) or the range of styles on offer (physical theatre, sketch shows, improv, stand up, ‘uncategorisable’) that make it unique, but the atmosphere of so many like minded people in one place at one time.
My son was in a show there (NSFW) and it was a thoroughly rewarding (if exhausting) time. To give you an idea, they performed every day at 12.55pm for three weeks and spent the rest of the day leafleting across the city.
The energy and commitment required is huge, the rewards unlikely to be monetary. But it’s an experience that every actor should have.
